I got into this early enough that you had to learn a bit of everything or nothing worked: design, code, delivery, the business holding it all up. Where I ended up specialising was management — operations, mostly. Seeing how the pieces fit turned out to be the job.

These days I work independently, helping teams ship the thing they actually set out to build. That's most of it, and it's enough. The client logos and the tidy job history live on LinkedIn — this page is for the rest.

Mostly, this is where I write. Essays about the things I keep circling back to: AI above all — I build with it every day, and I'd sooner write from that than from the brochure — but also markets, management, and the odd piece of old technology that still has something to say. I'm less interested in guessing what happens next than in what holds up once you've actually used the tools.

Some of it has nothing to do with work at all — a book, a machine I grew up with, something that made me laugh. That usually ends up on the Now page.
